Remembrance concert, St Thomas Church, Lymington
A REMEMBRANCE concert supporting Oxfam’s victims of war appeal is set to feature young harp scholar Rosie Gill.
The multi-award-winning harpest will join the Nova Foresta Classical Players for the special show at St Thomas Church in Lymington on Saturday 9th November.
Rosie, who is a student at the Royal College of Music, is looking forward to performing with the Players. She said: “It’s always a real honour to be able to perform with this excellent professional orchestra. I am delighted to be performing the Handel Concerto in Lymington on such an important weekend. The concert also includes masterpieces by Elgar and Britten and supports Oxfam’s victims of war.
The Hordle musician has performed all over the UK and overseas as a soloist. As well as Rosie, this concert features Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s principal bass Dave Daley and Royal Academy Fellow Lionel Handy on solo cello. The concert will also include masterpieces by Elgar and Britten, and supports Oxfam’s victims of war.
The Nova Foresta Classical Players are the New Forest’s only professional orchestra, and one of their main aims is to provide a platform for the young musicians of the future. The orchestra frequently accompany the Lymington Choral Society as well as performing all over the UK in festivals and concerts. Under musical director Phil Daish-Handy, Nova have established themselves as a genuine musical force.
